Job summary

Gainesville City Schools seeks a Technician to perform skilled repair and maintenance of technology equipment and provide user support across systems. Under the Director of Technology Services and Infrastructure, you will troubleshoot, install, and configure district hardware and software to keep learning environments running.

You will work with Windows and Mac OS, participate in software testing, inventory management, and adhere to safety and district policies while delivering reliable

Qualifications

• Experience with a variety of software
• Experience with TCP/IP
• Experience with LAN/WAN networking
• Proficiency in use of operating systems
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Organization and planning skills
• Associate’s degree (or two years) in a technology field
• Bachelor’s degree in a technology field preferred
• A Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Install district-standard hardware, software, peripheral and non-computer equipment, and technology upgrades
• Troubleshoot and repair or replace client hardware
• Maintain accurate reporting of work performed using enterprise-level ticket tracking system
• Identify architectural and design issues related to technology
• Participate in the research and evaluation of software and hardware based on given parameters
• Participate in the development of new specifications for computers, software, and peripherals
• Actively participate in inventory management database of hardware and software
• Use imaging technologies for Windows and Mac OS
• Maintain competency in current operating systems, desktop computer hardware, and peripherals
• Use problem determination skills to isolate faults and implement repairs
• Assist users in all phases of computer systems
• Maintain microcomputer applications, communications, and utility programs
• Conform to safety standards
