Job summary

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking an Information Technology Technician- Field Technician to provide hands‑on support across multiple schools. The role centers on device repairs, classroom technology, and user assistance, with an hourly rate of $27.29.

You will travel between sites in district vehicles, log incidents, maintain inventory, and ensure systems from projectors to Wi‑Fi operate smoothly during instructional time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate degree or technical certification in IT preferred.
• 13 years in entry‑level IT support preferred.
• Experience in K-12 education or managed IT services is an advantage.
• Competency with Chrome, Windows, and Apple operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform component-level repairs for student and staff devices.
• Assess damage and process notifications; flag missing/stolen devices.
• Support STEM labs, 3D printers, copiers, printers, digital signage, and library hardware.
• Install and troubleshoot interactive panels, document cameras, and projectors.
• Ensure workstations, USB‑C docks, cameras, and wireless casting setups function correctly.
• Log resolutions, track time, update inventory tags, and monitor SLAs.
• Triage tickets by instructional impact and communicate updates to staff.
• Verify Wi‑Fi and wired connectivity before escalation.
• Transport equipment between schools using district vehicle.
