South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks a Sergeant at the Coastal Evaluation and Development Center to assist in directing Juvenile Correctional Officers and creating a safe, rehabilitative environment for youth. Under the Captain's supervision, you will oversee posts, ensure compliance, and support staff in daily operations.

This role requires strong leadership, teaching skills, and the ability to respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to mentor staff and work with youth.
• Strong judgment and initiative are required.

Responsibilities

• Engages with youth to ensure safety, security, rehabilitation, and well‑being.
• Maintains regular communication with youth and staff.
• Mentors new security staff and supports daily logs and reporting.
• Provides training and guidance to staff in carrying out duties.
• Responds to emergencies and conducts routine inspections.
