Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Greenville, SC, seeks an Assistant Structural Engineer to assist project teams with world-class designs for power, process, healthcare, and government facilities. You’ll work under a licensed PE, support drawing updates, and participate in field inspections through design and construction.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in structural engineering, internship experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from an accredited program (ABET preferred).
Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
Proficiency in standard structural engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA) and CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla).
Strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization and problem solving.

Responsibilities

Assist in the structural design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
Modify and review production drawings for various facilities (power, process, industrial, healthcare, etc.).
Assist in designing structural components per project manager requirements.
Apply basic knowledge of structural engineering concepts, codes and procedures.
Help compile project data and perform field inspections or measurements.
Assist with client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
