Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Denver, CO is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer to support design teams on power, process, healthcare, and industrial facilities. You will assist through the design and construction process, adapting plans to budget and client needs under supervision of a licensed PE.

You will help prepare and modify drawings in CAD/BIM, perform basic structural analyses, collect project data, and assist with field inspections and client presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering; ABET accreditation preferred.
• Internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Proficient with standard structural engineering techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with CAD/ BIM tools like AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla.

Responsibilities

• Assist in structural design from concept through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for a variety of facilities.
• Assist in designing structural components per project manager requirements.
• Apply basic structural engineering concepts, codes, and procedures.
• Assist with data collection, field inspections, and calculations.
• Support client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
• Perform field inspections and measurements for clients.
• Other duties as assigned; comply with policies.
