Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to support Naval projects in Dahlgren, VA. The role involves developing, integrating, testing, and deploying software for DoW weapons and sensor systems as part of a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities include coding in C/C++, Java, and Python; using Git, Jira, and static analysis tools; and applying Agile, Scrum, and DevSecOps practices. A Secret clearance is required for this position.

Qualifications

• 0–10 years of relevant software development or engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in support of scientific and engineering work.
• Ability to work independently and within established teams to meet schedule-driven requirements.
• Must have an active Secret security clearance. Note: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, and deploy software in C/C++, Java, and/or Python.
• Support software requirements development, architecture, design, and testing.
• Support modern weapon system software development, testing, and deployment activities.
• Utilize development and collaboration tools including Git, Jira, and static code analysis tools.
• Apply modern software development practices, including Agile, Scrum, and DevSecOps.
• Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams consisting of industry and government personnel.
• Communicate technical information effectively with engineering personnel, customers, senior managers, and program managers.
• Work independently and collaboratively to meet established program goals and schedules.
• Support continuous improvement and professional development by expanding technical knowledge and capabilities.
