Job summary

MasTec Renewables in Indianapolis is seeking an Energy Storage Engineer I to assist in the design and execution of utility-scale battery energy storage systems. You will support layout development, data analysis, and deliverables under supervision, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective BESS designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in civil, structural, geotechnical, electrical engineering or construction management.
• EIT certification preferred or on track to obtain.
• 1–3 years related work experience preferred.
• Experience in renewable energy or energy storage is strongly preferred.
• Experience in engineering software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, CYMCAP) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
• Create and optimize preliminary battery energy storage system (BESS) layouts under guidance from senior engineers.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables including drawings, reports, specifications, and limited-scope studies.
• Conduct routine research and develop recommendations for BESS equipment and materials.
• Develop familiarity with departmental design guides, engineering standards, codes, and MasTec Renewables procedures.
• Coordinate with internal project team members and external engineering consultants as directed by project leadership.
• Contribute to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
• Collect, organize, and manage engineering data to support design decisions.
• Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and technical personnel to support project execution.
• Travel to project sites as required to support engineering issue resolution.
