Job summary

MasTec Renewables is seeking an Energy Storage Engineer I to support the engineering, design, and execution of utility-scale battery energy storage system projects. Location options include Dallas, Indianapolis, or Phoenix, with duties spanning layouts, deliverables, equipment evaluations, and data analysis to ensure safe, reliable BESS designs.

The role requires a Bachelor's in civil/structural/geotechnical or related engineering field, 1–3 years of experience, and an EIT preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• One to three years of related work experience preferred.
• EIT certification preferred or on path to obtain.
• Experience in renewable energy or energy storage, or electrical engineering in construction environments, is strongly preferred.
• Experience in engineering software preferred; we utilize AutoCAD, Bluebeam, CYMCAP.

Responsibilities

• Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
• Support the implementation of lessons learned and industry best practices with a mindset of continuous improvement.
• Create and optimize preliminary battery energy storage system (BESS) layouts under guidance from senior engineers.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables including drawings, reports, specifications, and limited-scope studies.
• Conduct routine research and develop recommendations for BESS equipment and materials.
• Develop familiarity with departmental design guides, engineering standards, codes, and MasTec Renewables procedures.
• Support compliance with Company engineering standards, quality standards, and processes.
• Coordinate with internal project team members and external engineering consultants as directed by project leadership.
• Travel to project sites as required to support engineering issue resolution, gather lessons learned, and strengthen relationships with field teams.
