Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer (ESSP) for our Phoenix, AZ office, with consideration for San Diego, CA. You will join the Power Delivery ESSP group and help meet client objectives while solving challenging power systems problems.

Responsibilities include electrical studies, SCADA system development and troubleshooting for utility and industrial clients, protection, planning, grounding, and integration with networks and HMIs. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or enrollment in an engineering program
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgement in evaluation and decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences
  • Ability to work independently or in a team to meet objectives
  • Proficiency with technical writing, software, math principles, and spreadsheets
  • Willingness to travel as required

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical studies and develop/troubleshoot SCADA systems for utility and industrial clients
  • Coordinate protective relaying analysis and relay settings; integrate with SCADA
  • Conduct power system planning studies including load flow and stability margins
  • Design grounding, insulation coordination, and power quality studies
  • Configure RTUs, HMIs, PLCs networks; travel to project sites for commissioning
  • Develop HMI screens and data transfer schemes; document findings
