Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Junior Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor enterprise security tools, analyze events, and triage potential threats targeting mission-critical systems and data.

You will perform initial investigations, distinguish false positives, escalate significant incidents, and assist with containment under guidance of senior analysts. This role supports tuning rules and playbooks in a highly regulated federal IT environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 0–3 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT operations, or related technical roles with exposure to security monitoring and incident triage.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts and the role of a security operations center in detection and response.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and correlate logs to identify suspicious patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage and document escalation tickets.
• Assist with incident response including gathering evidence and containment under guidance of senior analysts.
• Document investigations with timelines and data sources reviewed.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and interpret alerts and logs.
• Follow SOC playbooks and tune rules to reduce noise and improve detection.
