Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company seeks a Jr. Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor enterprise security tools, analyze events, and triage potential threats targeting mission-critical systems in a regulated federal IT environment.

You will perform initial investigations, support containment and recovery under guidance, document findings, and help tune controls to improve detection fidelity while adhering to SOPs and audit requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of cybersecurity experience.
• Foundational cybersecurity concepts and SOC roles understanding.
• Experience with security tools and interpreting alerts.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain/maintain clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to review events and correlate logs.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage and ticket generation.
• Assist with incident response, gathering evidence and containment under guidance.
• Document investigations with timelines and data sources.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and scanners.
• Follow SOC SOPs and playbooks; provide feedback to improve procedures.
• Support tuning of rules, use cases, and dashboards.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams aligning with policies.
