Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company seeks a Jr. Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor SIEM and security tooling, review events, and triage alerts within a highly regulated federal IT environment.

You will assist with investigations, gather indicators of compromise, support containment and recovery under guidance, document findings, and help tune rules and dashboards to reduce noise and improve detection fidelity across mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years in cybersecurity, IT operations, or related technical roles.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts and SOC operations.
• Hands-on familiarity with security tools and ability to interpret alerts and logs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to review events and identify patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage and document escalation tickets.
• Assist with incident response activities and evidence gathering.
• Document investigations with timelines and data sources.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and scanners.
• Follow SOC playbooks and help tune rules and dashboards.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams.
