Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Junior Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor security tools, investigate alerts, and assist with containment and recovery under guidance. You will support Tier 1 triage, document investigations, and help tune detection rules in a federal IT environment.

You will work with IT, operations, and risk teams to align security monitoring with policies and mission priorities, maintaining awareness of common security technologies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT, CS, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• 0–3 years in cybersecurity, IT operations, or related roles with security monitoring exposure.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts and SOC functions.
• Hands-on familiarity with security tools and ability to interpret basic alerts and logs.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required to support federal information security requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced SOC.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to review events and identify suspicious patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage by validating context, severity, and impact, and document tickets for escalation.
• Assist with incident response activities including collecting evidence and indicators of compromise.
• Document investigations with timelines, data sources, actions, and handoffs for audits.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanners.
• Follow SOC SOPs, playbooks, and reporting formats and contribute improvements.
• Support tuning of rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise and improve detection.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align monitoring with policies and mission priorities.
