Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Junior Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor enterprise security tools and logs, detect and triage potential threats targeting mission‑critical systems in a federal IT environment.

You will perform initial investigations, distinguish false positives, escalate significant events, and assist with containment and recovery under guidance, contributing to improved detection fidelity and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or related IT roles with exposure to monitoring and triage.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts and SOC operations.
• Experience with security tools and interpreting alerts/logs.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to review events and identify suspicious patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage and generate documented escalation tickets.
• Assist with incident response activities, including evidence gathering and containment support.
• Document investigations with timelines and data sources for audit readiness.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align monitoring with policies.
• Support tuning of rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise.
