Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Jr. Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor enterprise security tools, analyze threats, and triage incidents affecting mission‑critical systems.

You will assist with containment and recovery under guidance of senior analysts, document investigations with timelines and data sources, and help tune detections to reduce noise in a regulated federal IT environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT, CS, or cybersecurity.
• 0–3 years in cybersecurity or IT operations with monitoring/triage exposure.
• Foundational cybersecurity concepts and SOC role understanding.
• Hands-on familiarity with security tools and interpreting alerts/logs.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain; US citizenship required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to detect threats and policy violations.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage, validate context, determine severity, and ticket escalation.
• Assist with incident response, gather evidence, and support containment/recovery.
• Document investigations with timelines, sources, actions, and handoffs.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and scanners.
• Follow SOC SOPs and playbooks; suggest improvements for detection/response.
• Contribute to tuning of rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align with policy and priorities.
