Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a junior Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor enterprise security tools, analyze events, and triage potential threats targeting mission-critical systems.

You will assist with containment and investigation under the guidance of senior analysts, document findings, and help fine‑tune detection controls in a regulated federal IT environment.

This role requires US citizenship and active security clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years in cybersecurity or related roles with monitoring experience.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts and incident detection.
• Hands-on familiarity with SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoints, or scanners.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one.
• US citizenship required to support federal information security requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to detect threats and correlate logs.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage; validate context, severity, and impact; create tickets.
• Assist with incident response activities, including evidence gathering and containment.
• Document investigations with timelines, data sources, actions, and handoffs.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and scanners.
• Follow SOC SOPs and playbooks; suggest improvements for detection and response.
• Tune rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise and improve visibility.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams for policy alignment.
