Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company seeks a Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer (Jr.) to monitor enterprise security tools, analyze events, and triage potential threats targeting mission-critical systems in a highly regulated federal IT environment.

You will perform initial investigations, distinguish false positives, escalate significant events, and support containment and recovery under guidance of senior analysts, documenting findings for audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in IT/cybersecurity.
• 0–3 years of cybersecurity or security monitoring experience.
• Foundational understanding of cyber threats and SOC roles.
• Hands-on familiarity with SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, or scanners.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to review events and identify suspicious patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage by validating context, severity, and impact; create documented tickets.
• Assist with incident response by gathering evidence and supporting containment.
• Document investigations with timelines, sources, actions, and handoffs.
• Interpret alerts across firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoints and scanners for SOC tools.
• Follow SOC playbooks and SOPs; contribute to improvements.
• Tune rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise and improve detection.
• Coordinate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align with policies.
