Job summary

ASM Research, an Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Junior Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor enterprise security tools and logs, triage alerts, and support containment and recovery under guidance. You will document investigations and help tune detection across a highly regulated federal IT environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT operations, or related roles.
• Foundational cybersecurity concepts and detection/response roles.
• Hands-on familiarity with SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, or scanners.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain and maintain clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to identify threats.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage and ticket escalation.
• Assist incident response, gather evidence, containment and recovery support.
• Document investigations with timelines and data sources.
• Maintain familiarity with security tech and interpret alerts.
• Follow SOC SOPs and playbooks, provide improvement feedback.
• Tune rules and dashboards to reduce noise and improve detection.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk to align with policies and priorities.
