Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of cybersecurity/IT operations experience with security monitoring and triage.
• Foundational cybersecurity concepts and SOC role in detection and response.
• Hands-on familiarity with SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, or vulnerability scanners, and basic alert/log interpretation.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for federal information security requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to review events and identify suspicious patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage by validating context, severity, and impact; create documented tickets.
• Assist incident response activities, including evidence gathering and containment support.
• Document investigations with timelines, data sources, and actions taken for audits.
• Maintain familiarity with security technologies and interpret alerts within SOC tools.
• Follow SOPs and playbooks; contribute to improving detection and response capabilities.
• Support tuning of rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise and improve visibility.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align monitoring with policies and priorities.
