Job summary

Berger Montague, a leading plaintiff-side antitrust firm, invites a full-litigation associate to join either the Philadelphia headquarters or our Washington, DC office.

You will receive meaningful responsibilities from week one and quickly grow into an attorney who can independently manage major phases of complex antitrust litigation, from prelitigation to discovery and trial preparation.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of civil litigation experience, preferably antitrust, with exposure to federal court, motion practice, and depositions.
• Strong academic credentials and analytical, research, writing, and organizational abilities.
• Excellent writing, oral advocacy, and client communication skills.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prelitigation investigations into potential antitrust violations.
• Draft complaints and motions with accompanying briefs.
• Draft discovery requests and responses; negotiate and manage discovery.
• Take and defend depositions of executives and industry participants.
• Coordinate large-scale document review and ESI discovery in complex cases.
• Collaborate with economists, statisticians, and experts in discovery.
• Appear at hearings, arguments, and status conferences in federal court.
• Maintain relationships with clients and class members; coordinate with co-counsel.

THE ROLE

This is a full-litigation associate position in our Philadelphia headquarters or our Washington, DC office. You will be assigned meaningful work from your first week and grow rapidly into an attorney who can independently manage major phases of complex antitrust litigation. Responsibilities include:

• Conduct prelitigation investigations into potential antitrust violations
• Draft complaints
• Draft motions and accompanying briefs
• Write discovery requests and responses, negotiate discovery, and draft discovery correspondence
• Take and defend depositions of corporate executives and industry participants
• Manage large-scale document review and ESI discovery in complex, multi-party litigation
• Work with economists, statisticians, and industry experts in expert discovery
• Appear at hearings, oral arguments, and status conferences in federal court
• Maintain client and class member relationships and coordinate with co-counsel and government agencies

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• J.D. from an accredited law school; admitted in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 1-4 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in antitrust litigation, with exposure to federal court, motion practice, and depositions
• Excellent academic credentials as well as strong analytical, research, writing, and organizational skills
• Strong work ethic and commitment to social and economic justice
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Preferred:

• Prior plaintiff-side or class action experience

• $200,000 base annual salary plus an annual discretionary bonus pursuant to the Firm's bonus schedule
