Job summary

Berger Montague PC seeks a FCRA Litigation Counsel in Minneapolis, MN to own a docket of individual Fair Credit Reporting Act cases filed in federal courts nationwide. After training, you will litigate and manage your own caseload with increasing independence.

Responsibilities include identifying new cases, conducting research, drafting pleadings, and handling discovery and depositions. Strong interest in consumer rights and civil litigation is essential.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (MN/PA/CA preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of civil litigation experience, including discovery and motion practice.
• Strong academic credentials and analytical, research, writing, and organizational skills.
• Genuine interest in building and managing an independent caseload of FCRA matters.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new cases by speaking with potential clients and evaluating legal theories.
• Conduct factual and legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Engage in all phases of discovery and prepare for, take, and defend depositions.
• Assist in trial preparation and manage a nationwide FCRA caseload.

LOCATION

This Counsel position is based in our Minneapolis, MN office. However, we will also consider candidates who are licensed and residing in the following cities where Berger Montague has an office, or who wish to work remotely from elsewhere:

THE ROLE

As FCRA Litigation Counsel, you will work on a docket of individual Fair Credit Reporting Act cases filed in federal district courts throughout the country. After an initial training period, you will be expected to litigate and manage your own caseload with increasing independence.

Responsibilities include:

• Identifying and developing new cases: speaking with potential clients, assessing relevant documents, and evaluating legal theories
• Conducting factual and legal research
• Drafting pleadings, pretrial motions, and briefs
• Participating in all phases of discovery, including written discovery, meet and confer sessions, document review, and preparing for, taking, and defending depositions
• Assisting in trial preparation
• Managing and litigating a caseload of individual FCRA matters filed in federal courts nationwide

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• J.D. from an accredited law school; admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Minnesota, Pennsylvania, or California preferred)
• Minimum of 1 year of civil litigation experience, including exposure to discovery and motion practice
• Strong academic credentials and robust analytical, research, writing, and organizational skills
• Strong work ethic and the ability to manage and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Genuine interest in building and managing an independent caseload of individual FCRA cases

Preferred:

• Knowledge of or experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act
• Prior plaintiff-side or consumer rights litigation experience

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• $110,000-$150,000 base annual salary, commensurate with experience, plus an annual discretionary bonus
