Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Cultural Resources Technician 1 to support projects across the Southwestern region. The role involves identifying, excavating, and recording potential sites following federal/state archaeological standards, with involvement in Phase I–III investigations.

The position requires fieldwork skills, the ability to hike 8–10 miles daily with equipment, and willingness to travel up to 100% on weekdays and weekends. Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, Historic Preservation, American Studies, or equivalent; field school enrollment or experience.
• 1–2 years field experience preferred or equivalent skills.
• Enrolled in field school or equivalent hands-on skills are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety policies per GAI, client, and OSHA.
• Excavates and records archaeological materials per standards.
• Photographs and maps survey areas and testing locations.
• Records soils using a Munsell soil chart.
• Works outdoors in varying weather and walks 8–10 miles daily with gear.
