Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. seeks an Assistant Cultural Resources Technician 1 to support projects across the Southwestern region. The role involves identifying, excavating, and recording potential sites following federal/state archaeological standards, including Phase I–III investigations.

Pre-employment drug testing is required. The position requires fieldwork outdoors in varying weather, stamina to walk 8–10 miles daily, and the ability to carry gear while excavating and documenting resources.

Qualifications

• Excavation, screening, and collection of archaeological materials per federal/state standards.
• Accurate note taking and completion of field forms.
• Sketch maps and basic photography using field equipment.
• Basic compass/navigation skills for locating survey areas.

Responsibilities

• Identify and record archaeological features within project study areas.
• Photograph and map survey areas, testing locations, and excavations.
• Maintain field forms and records; operate basic field equipment and gear.
