Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Cultural Resources Technician 1 to support projects across the Southwestern region. The role involves identifying, excavating, and recording potential archaeological sites in compliance with federal/state standards, through Phase I–III investigations.

Field duties include documenting survey areas, taking field notes, and working outdoors in varying weather. A valid driver’s license is required and pre-employment drug testing applies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, historic preservation, American studies, or related field, or equivalent skills and experience.
• Enrollment in a field school or equivalent practical experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Identify, excavate, and record archaeological sites following federal/state standards.
• Photograph and map survey areas, testing locations, and features.
• Complete field forms accurately (paper/electronic).
• Record soils using a Munsell chart and use a compass for navigation.
