Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. seeks an Assistant Cultural Resources Technician 1 to support projects across the Southwestern region. The role involves identifying, excavating, and recording sites following federal/state archaeological standards, with phases I–III investigations possible.

Responsibilities include field excavation, surveying, photography, and accurate form completion, with physical tasks such as walking long distances and lifting gear, in varied weather conditions. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or enrolled in field school; or equivalent skills and experience.
• 1–2 years of field-related experience (archaeology).
• Ability to hike 8–10 miles daily in rugged terrain and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Excavates, screens, and collects archaeological materials per federal/state standards.
• Identifies and records archaeological features and structures within project areas.
• Photographs and maps survey areas, testing locations, excavations and resources.
• Completes field forms (paper/electronic) accurately.

Education

B.A./B.S. Degree in Anthropology/Archaeology/History/Historic Preservation/American Studies or related field
