Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Cultural Resources Technician 1 to support projects across the Southwestern region. The role involves identifying, excavating, and recording sites in compliance with federal/state standards and may include Phase I–III investigations.

The position requires physical stamina for extensive fieldwork, the ability to carry equipment, and willingness to travel. Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, Historic Preservation, American Studies, or related field; field school enrollment or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of field-related experience preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork in variable conditions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and record archaeological resources following federal/state standards.
• Excavate, screen, and collect materials adhering to guidelines.
• Photograph and map survey areas and testing locations.
• Complete field forms accurately, maintain notes, and sketch maps.
