Job summary

Friedkin is seeking an Accountant I in Houston, TX to support the Accounting department under the Accounting Manager. You will assist with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis to ensure GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting.

You’ll work with the Controller and team to prepare audit schedules and tax forms, respond to inquiries, and help deliver reliable financial data for internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university; required 0-2 years General Ledger Accounting experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports, journals, and legal documents; respond to inquiries from customers or regulatory agencies in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Execute a Monthly Close of the General Ledger for Westside & Northside Lexus for areas assigned; update monthly close checklist and inform Manager when reports are ready.
• Prepare journal entries – including recurring entries – for Month End Close.
• Maintain well-documented work papers for journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts in a timely fashion; resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Assist the Controller, Manager and associates with audit schedules, tax schedules and tax forms.
• Compare actual results to budgeted results and provide variance explanations monthly.
• Analyze monthly and year-end data to ensure GAAP accuracy.
