Job summary

Westside and Northside Lexus is seeking an Accountant I to join our Accounting team in Houston. You will support the accounting department under the Accounting Manager, performing month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations with attention to GAAP.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 0–2 years of General Ledger experience. You will assist in audits, prepare schedules, and analyze variances while upholding confidentiality and accuracy in financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 0–2 years General Ledger accounting experience preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and journals; respond to inquiries timely.

Responsibilities

• Execute monthly close of the General Ledger for assigned areas and update close checklist.
• Prepare journal entries, including recurring entries, for month-end close.
• Maintain well-documented work papers for journal entries and reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Assist with ancillary audit schedules, footnotes, tax schedules and tax forms.
• Compare actual results to budgeted results and provide monthly variance explanations.
• Analyze financial data to ensure GAAP-compliant recording.
• Research and resolve accounting questions and customer issues within agreed timeframes.
• Set a good example to improve productivity and performance.
• Other duties as assigned.
