Burnett Specialists Staffing | Recruiting is hiring an Accountant II to join our growing accounting team in Houston, TX. This role offers exposure to general ledger, fixed assets, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting, ideal for an early-career accountant building breadth across core accounting functions.

You will work closely with the Accounting Manager and finance colleagues on daily activities, reporting, and special projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and PivotTables.
• Experience working with accounting or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, transfers, and asset updates.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Complete bank, credit card, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations.
• Maintain prepaid expenses and recurring monthly entries.
• Post and reconcile daily cash activity.
• Review accounting activity for accuracy and research discrepancies.
• Assist with AP and AR functions and review batches prior to posting.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Help maintain compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and established accounting procedures.
• Partner with other departments to research and resolve accounting issues.
• Assist with special projects, reporting requests, and process improvement initiatives.
