Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team in Houston, TX. The role focuses on GAAP-compliant ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end close, with strong emphasis on accuracy and deadlines.

The ideal candidate brings 2+ years of GL experience, solid Excel skills (PivotTables and lookups), and comfort using ERP/accounting software to support financial reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years general ledger experience.
• GAAP knowledge and journal entry experience.
• Experience with month-end close and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills including PivotTables and lookups.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate records.
• Prepare and post journal entries in GAAP adherence.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Support month-end close with schedules and reports.
• Assist with financial statements analysis (P&L, balance sheet).
• Conduct bank reconciliations and analyze variances.
• Perform profit and loss analysis to identify trends.
• Utilize Excel and ERP systems for reporting needs.
• Resolve accounting issues independently and timely.
• Coordinate with team and other departments on reporting.
