Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking qualified Journey Line Workers to join our Pennsylvania Electric Company team. The role involves traveling across service areas, building and maintaining electric power systems, and restoring service for customers.

Work is outdoors in all weather, with potential travel and relocation as needed. Responsibilities include pole work, equipment operation, and on‑the‑job training for apprentices.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with documentation.
• High School diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Pass a DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• Able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Experience with rubber gloving and hot-stick procedures.
• Experience in transmission and distribution work.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within the assigned region.
• Load and unload tools, materials, and supplies into and out of vehicles.
• Operate hydraulic equipment, lifts, and bucket trucks when certified.
• Climb poles using hooks; string power lines and install cross-arms.
• Test, frame, set, and anchor poles; perform substation work.
• Set and install underground structures; locate and terminate cables.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and train apprentices.
• May serve as back-up foreman and lead crew members.
