Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking qualified Journeyman Linemen to build and maintain electric power systems across the service territory. You will test, frame and set poles, climb poles, work in confined spaces, and restore service to customers.

A sanctioned apprenticeship and/or IBEW line worker program is required, with a valid Class A license and DMV medical clearance. Work is outdoors in all weather, with overtime and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved documentation.
• Valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Pass DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• Live within 45 minutes of assigned Service Center.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED and 5 years electric line utility experience.
• Ability to wear PPE and lift up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within assigned region.
• Test, frame and set poles; climb poles; work in confined spaces.
• Install and replace switches, meters and streetlights; energize transformers.
• Perform substation switching; install equipment and cables.
• Take voltage readings and diagnose outages.
• Adhere to safety standards and complete pre-employment checks.
