FirstEnergy is hiring Journeyman Linemen to build and maintain electric power systems across the service territory. Roles require valid Line Worker apprenticeship documentation, Class A permit by day one, and ability to work outdoors in all conditions.

The position involves climbing poles, testing and installing equipment, and frequent travel. Competitive hourly wages depend on location and bargaining agreements, with pro-rationed benefits and safety training.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved documentation.
• Valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• DMV medical exam completed by first day.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to wear PPE and lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work extended hours and in all weather.
• Pre-employment checks including drug screen and background.
• Experience with transmission and distribution work and gloving.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job locations within assigned region.
• Review work requirements and coordinate daily tasks.
• Load/unload tools and materials at crew sites.
• Climb poles and work on elevated structures.
• Install and maintain power lines and substations.
• Perform voltage readings and troubleshoot outages.
• Operate equipment and drive as required.
