FirstEnergy Corp. seeks qualified Journey Line Workers to build and maintain electric power systems across service territory, with postings primarily in New Jersey and surrounding locations.

The role requires completion of a line worker apprenticeship and the ability to work outdoors in all weather, climb poles, and pass pre-employment screenings. Starting wage varies by locality, with a structured wage progression.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved supporting documentation (e.g. IBEW Journeyman Lineman A Ticket) and/or union or union-affiliated sponsored line worker apprenticeship
• Must have a valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment
• Must pass a DMV medical exam by first day of employment
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to wear PPE and work in all weather conditions
• Experience with transmission and distribution work and live circuits

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within assigned region and assist with daily work planning
• Load/unload tools and materials; lift and carry equipment to job sites
• Climb poles and work on elevated structures; test, frame and anchor poles and lines
• Perform substation switching and install/repair switches and meters
• Take voltage readings and troubleshoot electrical faults
• Work with live circuits and in trenches, manholes and confined spaces
• Operate hydraulic and lift equipment when certified
• Attend mandated OSHA and company trainings

Education
