FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp, is hiring Journey Line Workers to build and maintain electric power systems and restore service across its service territory. The role requires prior line worker apprenticeship, a Class A license, and willingness to travel and work outdoors in all weather.

Open positions emphasize safety, the ability to work extended hours, and the use of PPE.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved supporting documentation.
• Valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Pass DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Capable to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Travels to job locations within assigned region.
• Reviews job work requirements and provides input regarding work for the day.
• Loads/unloads tools, materials and supplies into/out of vehicles.
• Lifts, pulls and carries insulators, cross-arms, equipment and other materials.
• Climbs poles and uses elevated work platforms.
• Tests, frames, sets/anchors poles and strings power lines.
• Operates switches, meters, streetlights and other equipment.
• Hangs and energizes transformers.
• Take voltage readings and troubleshoot problems.
• Work with live circuits and in trenches, manholes and confined spaces.
• Drives various vehicles; travels to access job sites.
• Mentor apprentices and assist foreman.
• Attends OSHA and company training.
