Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of Human Services experience; related experience may substitute for academic training.
  • Strong time management and writing skills.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 2 weeks of employment.
  • Ability to obtain MAP certification within 150 days of employment.
  • Ability to obtain Safety Care certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Must pass CORI, reference, multi-state background, driving record, and driver screening checks.
  • Knowledge of empowerment, self-advocacy, advocacy, communication styles, assessment practices, crisis intervention, community resources, documentation, human/civil/legal rights, and Supported Employment.
  • Knowledge of applied behavior analysis with special-needs populations.
  • Ability to create strategies for persons served and provide staff leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to assist clients with daily living activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals to find community employment opportunities.
  • Coordinate skill training and assessments related to individual employment goals.
  • Seek job opportunities through internet searches, resumes, job fairs, cold calls, mailings, walk-ins, networking, and presentations.
  • Develop community contacts for job tours, situational assessments, job placement, and follow-up.
  • Identify individuals' strengths and interests for appropriate job matches and develop skills-focused training.
  • Respond to issues of persons served and conduct annual employer satisfaction surveys.
  • Oversee or provide transportation to work sites.
  • Maintain vocational assessments, placement records, staff contacts, and pertinent data.
  • Provide onsite and community training for staff, persons served, and employers.
  • Direct and manage Job Coaches, including training, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Oversee enclave payment processes and related records.
  • Monitor safety standards and issues in community employment placements.
  • Prepare documentation for CARF, DDS Survey & Certification, Board of Health, Vinfen Quality Improvement, and Program Evaluation.
  • Oversee weekly Job Coach data collection and complete supported employment monthly reports.
  • Educate and support families, guardians, DDS, and residential staff regarding community employment.
  • Collaborate with residential providers, families, involved parties, clinicians, and the Supported Employment Director.
  • Participate in Job Developer meetings, statewide forums, vocational cluster meetings, and staff orientation.
  • Ensure job retention through scheduled placement visits and notes.
  • Oversee the Employment Resource Center.
  • Assist individuals with benefits counseling.
  • Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Current, valid US driver's license held for at least 6 months/one year, with safe driving record
