Job summary

Jobtailor in New Britain, CT is seeking a dedicated direct care professional to support individuals in residential and community settings. You will assist with day-to-day activities, implement behavior supports, and document progress in CX360, ensuring timely data entry.

You will work 1:1 with persons served, help them achieve daytime goals, advocate for their needs, and maintain a safe, empowering environment. Prior experience and valid driver license are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; in some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training.
  • One year of experience/training in a related function.
  • Valid US driver's licence; must be at least 21 years old and have maintained a valid licence for at least 6 months.
  • Access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • CPR within two weeks of hire.
  • First Aid within two weeks of hire.
  • MAC following Connecticut guidelines.
  • Safety Care within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to assist with routine living activities including cleaning, meal preparation, vacuuming, shoveling, and grocery shopping.
  • Background checks including CORI, SORI, references, and verification.
  • Knowledge of empowerment, self-advocacy, ABA, advocacy, and community resources.
  • Persuasive, collaborative, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to provide a positive role model.
  • Ability to perform physically active duties; lift at least 25 pounds; operate a computer and office equipment; assist daily living tasks.
  • Ability to speak, hear, communicate, and meet vision requirements.
  • Safe driving record and adequate insurance if using a personal vehicle.

Job description

  • Assist with implementation of individuals’ individualized day non-vocational (IDN) goals, emphasizing community activities and engagement
  • Provide 1:1 support and guidance to persons served in their residential home and community
  • Engage and support individuals in achieving daytime goals and provide emotional or behavioral support
  • Work directly with persons served individually and develop their skills
  • Document services in CX360 by checking individuals in and out and completing daily progress notes
  • Implement prescribed clinical, educational, and behavioural programs
  • Collect, quantify, transfer, and analyse data bi-monthly
  • Maintain physical upkeep of the program area and ensure equipment is properly used, cleaned, and stored
  • Advocate for persons served
  • Complete required direct care training
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; in some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training
  • One year of experience/training in a related function
