Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Software Engineer II focused on API development and cloud migration. This remote role supports enterprise APIs across Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting, modernizing legacy systems into cloud-native solutions.

The candidate will work through the full API lifecycle, collaborating with architects and product owners to deliver scalable, secure APIs and microservices in a cloud-first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, with 2+ years of software development experience.
• Or High School Diploma with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of API development using AWS technologies (APIGateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, KMS).
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, RESTful API development, and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support secure, scalable APIs and microservices for Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting.
• Participate in API modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
• Develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services (API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, KMS).
• Create RESTful APIs with Java/Spring Boot and AWS-native technologies.
• Implement secure coding practices and secrets management.
• Develop event-driven solutions with Apache Kafka, SNS, and SQS for real-time processing.
• Build and support containerized apps on OpenShift, Docker, and AWS ECS.
