About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer II specializing in API Development and Cloud Migration to join our dynamic team remotely in Arizona (AZ), North Carolina (NC), or Texas (TX). This role involves designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-grade APIs across Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming legacy systems into modern, cloud-native, scalable API-driven solutions, ensuring seamless integration with internal and external systems. The position requires active involvement throughout the entire API lifecycle—from architecture and development to deployment, monitoring, and support. Collaborating closely with architects, product owners, and engineering teams, the engineer will contribute to the modernization initiatives that underpin our strategic growth in digital financial services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in software application development and maintenance.
- Or High School Diploma or GED with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience developing enterprise-scale APIs utilizing AWS technologies such as API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, and KMS.
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, RESTful API development, and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native application design and security best practices.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, containerization platforms such as Docker and OpenShift, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and real-time processing solutions.
- Experience leading API modernization and cloud migration initiatives, including decomposition of monolithic applications into microservices, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and observability tools such as Dynatrace, AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, Grafana, or similar platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and support secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs and microservices for Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms.
- Participate in the modernization and migration of APIs and integration services from on-premises environments to AWS cloud-native architectures.
- Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, KMS, and Transfer Family.
- Create and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS-native technologies, adhering to enterprise architecture and security standards.
- Support and improve existing API platforms by troubleshooting issues, implementing new functionalities, and optimizing performance and resiliency.
- Develop event-driven solutions utilizing Apache Kafka, Amazon SNS, and SQS to support real-time payment processing and money movement.
- Build, deploy, and support containerized applications on platforms such as OpenShift, Docker, and AWS ECS.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Implement secure coding practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management.
- Optimize API performance and reliability through monitoring, tuning, and proactive issue resolution.
- Participate in API migration activities, including legacy system assessment, refactoring, testing, deployment, and support for production cutover.
- Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to automate provisioning and deployment of cloud resources.
- Implement and support CI/CD pipelines to facilitate automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
- Utilize observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, CloudWatch, X-Ray, Grafana, and Splunk for application health monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Participate in on-call support, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure platform stability and operational excellence.
- Engage in code reviews, technical design discussions, and adherence to engineering best practices to enhance software quality and maintainability.
