Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Raleigh, NC seeks an ITS/Traffic Engineering Intern to assist with design and development of ITS and Traffic plans, including traffic signals, fiber routing, signing, and safety studies. You will support investigations, data analysis, and report preparation under supervision.

The role offers exposure to specifications, permit applications, and preliminary man-hour and material estimates, with hands-on learning across disciplines in a global engineering firm.

Qualifications

• Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program by Spring 2027.
• No experience required if accepted into an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in a related technical field.
• Basic computer skills to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop ITS/Traffic plans and drawings, including signal design, fiber routing, and signing.
• Organize ITS/Traffic investigations and analyses with defined scope.
• Prepare straightforward technical reports under periodic review.
• Research feasible design approaches and emerging technologies.
• Contribute to specifications, permit applications, and preliminary estimates.
