Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Raleigh, NC is seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineering Intern to design and develop plans for ITS/Traffic projects. You will assist with traffic signal design, fiber routing, signing, and safety studies, while learning through supervision and real-world applications.

Candidate should have completed 60 hours toward a civil engineering degree in an ABET-accredited program by Spring 2027; basic MS Office skills and familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by Spring 2027.
• No experience required if admitted to an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop plans and drawings for ITS and Traffic projects.
• Coordinate with disciplines; perform site observations and fieldwork as needed.
• Prepare preliminary man-hour, material quantity estimates and cost estimates.
• Support traffic signal design, fiber routing, signing and striping work.
• Contribute to technical reports and specifications under supervision.
