Job summary

Kapsch TrafficCom is hiring a Traffic Management Center Operator in Chesterfield, MO. You will monitor roadway conditions, coordinate incident response, and deliver traveler information using ITS technologies across a multi-monitor workstation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (college degree preferred) and strong communication skills. Full-time, PM shift, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday. Starting pay $20.00/hour.

• Proficiency with Windows-based systems and multi-monitor workstation.
• Ability to type quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong working knowledge of St. Louis-area roadways and geography.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to prioritize and respond to real-time events with urgency and accuracy.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work holidays and weekends as part of a 24/7/365 operation.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate ITS technologies including cameras, sensors, and information systems to monitor traffic conditions.
• Identify and track incidents and roadway issues using CCTV, patrol and police reports, and other data sources.
• Coordinate and dispatch responses to roadway incidents via radio, phone, or internal systems.
• Input and manage data in real-time systems, maintaining accurate records of incidents and response actions.
• Assist with compiling traffic and incident data for reports including travel time, incident summaries, and equipment status.
• Provide traveler information to the public through variable message signs, websites, and partner agencies.
• Work collaboratively with teammates, first responders, and other stakeholders to manage daily operations.
