Job summary

University of Nevada, Reno Extension is seeking an IT Technician 2 to provide frontline technology support for Extension faculty and staff across Northern Nevada. You’ll troubleshoot issues, deploy equipment, and support classroom technology to ensure programs run smoothly.

Reporting to the IT Administrator, this full-time role emphasizes customer service, teamwork, and the careful handling of hardware, software, and peripherals. A strong foundation in IT support and communication is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 3 years in IT/user support.
• Valid Class C driver’s license within 30 days of appointment.
• Fingerprinting/background check required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office365 and Windows-based workstations.
• Excellent customer service and end-user communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for hardware, software, printers, peripherals, and workstation connectivity.
• Configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot computers and technology equipment.
• Support classroom, conference room, and meeting technology to ensure a positive user experience.
• Maintain technology inventory records, asset tracking, and service documentation.
• Participate in technology projects, equipment upgrades, software implementations, and operational initiatives.
