Job Description The University of Nevada, Reno Extension is seeking a customer-focused and technically skilled IT Technician 2 to provide frontline technology support for Extension faculty and staff across Northern Nevada. In this role, you will help ensure employees have the technology and support they need to successfully deliver educational programs, research, and community outreach throughout the state. From troubleshooting computer and software issues to deploying new equipment and supporting classroom technology, you’ll play an important role in keeping Extension operations running smoothly. Reporting to the IT Administrator, the IT Technician2 provides technical support and technology services to Extension faculty and staff. The position assists users with hardware, software, workstation, peripheral, printer, and connectivity issues; deploys and maintains technology equipment; supports meeting and classroom technology; maintains inventory and asset records; and participates in technology projects and operational initiatives. The role requires strong customer service skills, technical troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to communicate effectively with users of varying technical backgrounds.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., this is subject to change based on operational needs. Travel between Extension offices and program locations may be required to install, maintain, or troubleshoot technology equipment. University vehicles may be available for business travel upon completion of required driver authorization and training requirements. Employees who use a personal vehicle for approved business travel may be eligible for mileage reimbursement in accordance with University and State policies.
Grade28 (Entry, Step01 $23.49/hr) In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code.
