Job summary

Howard County Government is seeking an IT professional to support the Detention Center’s technology and communications systems. You will perform system maintenance, manage hardware and software, and assist correctional staff with day-to-day technical needs.

The role includes upgrading firmware, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining documentation. The starting salary is $69,607 annually, with on-call duties roughly 15 days per month.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 1 year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs intermediate professional level technology and communication services work under general supervision.
• Update firmware on facility metal detectors; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software issues.
• Support and troubleshoot the Detention Center’s camera system (Vicon).
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and configure the Corrections door access system, including maintaining related spreadsheet records.
• Assist with troubleshooting inmate tablets and liaise with vendors.
• Create and maintain documentation for changes to technology used at the facility.
