Job summary

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join the Service Desk team. You will provide technical support to internal staff, troubleshoot desktop computers, printers, and office devices, and help maintain system reliability through proactive maintenance.

The role requires strong knowledge of Windows/Mac environments, familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools, and experience with Active Directory and Intune.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in IT or related field, or equivalent certifications.
• Valid California Driver License preferred or reliable alternative transportation.
• Proven ability to learn MTS policies and IT standards; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as initial contact for IT support via phone, email, and ticketing system.
• Troubleshoot hardware/software on desktops/laptops (Windows/Mac), printers, VoIP phones, and terminals.
• Provide software installations, updates, and basic training.
• Escalate complex issues to higher IT tiers when needed.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment is operational.
• Configure workstations and peripherals for new users.
• Manage Active Directory and Intune accounts; maintain asset records.
• Document support activities in Freshservice and create SOPs.
• Collaborate with Service Desk, Network, Operations, and Dev teams.
