Job summary

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is seeking an IT Support Specialist to assist staff across the agency. The role includes troubleshooting desktops, printers, ticket office terminals, and related devices, with emphasis on system reliability through monitoring and preventative maintenance.

You will manage user accounts in Active Directory and Intune, deploy workstations, and support board meetings with AV techs. A bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent certs is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field required or equivalent experience.
• A+ or N+ or Apple Certification recommended; related vendor certs acceptable.
• California Driver License required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial point of contact for IT support requests via phone, email, and the ticketing system.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops (Windows and Mac), printers, VoIP phones, and terminals.
• Provide user support for software installations, updates, and basic training.
• Escalate complex issues to higher-tier IT teams when needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs to keep equipment operational.
• Deploy and configure workstations and peripherals for users.
• Support the full computer lifecycle including patching, imaging, deployment, and decommissioning.
• Conduct regular system health checks and preventative maintenance.
• Manage user and computer accounts in Active Directory and Intune; control access to network systems.
• Maintain asset records and assist with inventory control.
• Provide AV support for board meetings and SOPs; document resolutions in Freshservice.
• Generate technical/inventory reports and collaborate with IT teams.
