Job summary

York St John University is offering a one-year IT placement designed to give two students practical experience across ITS, including service delivery, technical support, and project work on university systems.

You will provide basic first-line support to students and staff, assist with routine enquiries, help maintain software, hardware, data integrations and documentation, and contribute to IT projects and service improvements while developing your professional skills and exploring IT career

Qualifications

• Interest in IT and willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and users.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; explain technical information to non-technical users.
• Interest in IT support and knowledge of IT hardware, software and services.
• Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic first-line IT support to students and staff.
• Assist with routine enquiries and escalate issues per procedures.
• Support maintenance and development of University software, hardware, data integrations, and documentation.
• Contribute to IT projects and service improvement activities.
• Participate in performance reviews and training.
