Job summary

HR HealthCare is seeking an IT Intern in York, PA to gain hands-on experience across hardware, software, networking and cybersecurity. This seasonal, full‑time role works with the Director of Information Technology to support day‑to‑day IT needs and learn practical skills in a professional setting.

The ideal candidate is an IT student or recent graduate with strong troubleshooting, communication, and security awareness.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related program.
  • Previous IT helpdesk, technical support, or internship experience preferred, but not required.
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and computer hardware.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addresses, Wi‑Fi, DNS, and connectivity troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and user‑access issues.
  • Set up, configure, and deploy computers, monitors, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Assist with new employee onboarding, including account setup, equipment preparation, and system access.
  • Follow organizational security, privacy, and HIPAA requirements when handling systems or information.
  • Support employee offboarding by collecting equipment and assisting with account and access termination.
  • Assist with Microsoft 365, Windows, Active Directory, and endpoint management tasks.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for printers, applications, internet connectivity, and peripherals.
  • Maintain accurate IT inventory and equipment records.
  • Assist with software installations, updates, and system maintenance.
  • Help monitor and maintain endpoint security and IT systems.
  • Escalate complex technical or security issues to senior IT staff.
  • Document support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
  • Assist with cybersecurity awareness initiatives and other IT projects.
  • Perform other IT‑related duties as assigned.

The IT Intern will work directly with employees, assist with troubleshooting and technical support, and gain experience with the systems and technologies that keep our organization running.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ticketing or help‑desk systems.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar coursework/certification.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently use a keyboard, mouse, and other computer equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment such as laptops, desktop computers, and monitors, when necessary.
  • Ability to safely navigate various areas of the facility when providing IT support.
