Job summary

ABB is seeking a VP of IT’s chief of staff to lead the operating rhythm, hiring, and cross-domain coordination across seven IT domains. You will partner with domain leads and business-unit leadership to ensure commitments are met and strategies are clearly communicated.

You will oversee onboarding, intern programs, monthly business meetings, and governance processes, while maintaining a strong focus on data-driven narratives for leadership reviews. Travel <20% with US work authorization.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in computer science engineering or related field (MBA/masters degree preferred).
Minimum 10 years of experience in enterprise business systems – SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA preferred, with exposure to Vistex, Vertex, SAP TMS, or comparable platforms.
Substantial experience (5+ years) running operational governance in a matrixed environment – intake processes, business reviews, prioritization frameworks – across multiple business areas.
You have managed or co-managed a team or project budget - comfortable with variance analysis, forecasting, and presenting financial narratives to leadership.
Demonstrated track record of designing and delivering training programs in a business systems or enterprise IT context - not coordinating someone else's curriculum, but building your own and measuring whether it worked.
Skilled in AI-powered platform delivery - you have built or significantly contributed to building a knowledge platform, self-service tool, or intelligent search system using RAG, knowledge graphs, or similar architectures.
Travel requirement less than 20%.
Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

Run the VP's operating rhythm: weekly leadership meeting, one-to-one agendas, and a single tracker of commitments across all seven domains.
Coordinate across seven domain leads and business-unit leadership to keep the VP current with business thinking.
Prepare the VP for conversations that matter: what will be asked, what to decide, and what not to concede.
Act for the VP when away, delivering messages while maintaining relationships.
Run the organization's hiring engine with HR partners across regions, typically with five to ten requisitions open at once.
Own the candidate journey from offer to onboarding and manage interns program (2–8 interns twice yearly).
Hold the hiring bar under pressure and resist shortcuts from senior leaders.
Run 3–6 monthly meetings with Finance, Sales, Operations, Logistics and Procurement.
Track commitments and adjust IT strategy based on results; prepare leadership reviews.
Run the weekly APT call and coordinate cross-domain backlog across seven domains.
